Emerging Clinical Issues in Infectious Diseases 2020

The Infectious Disease Association of California hosts its 34th annual Spring Symposium on Saturday and Sunday, May -3, 2020. The Spring Sympoisum mixes the discussion of clinicall infectious disease topics with time to enjoy the destination and socialize with colleagues.

This year's event takes place at the Hyatt Regency John Wayn Airport in Newport Beach, CA.

Target Audience:
This CME activity is designed to meet the educational needs of physicians, pharmacists, researchers, infection control practitioners/nurses, and microbiologists with an interest in infectious diseases, HIV medicine, and infection control.

Accreditation:
It will consist of 9.0 CME sessions along with break-out sessions for physicians, Pharmcists and Infection Control Practitioners.

Physicians:
IDAC designates this educational activity for a maximum of 8.0* AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™ and American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program points. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. This credit may also be applied to the CMA Certification in Continuing Medical Education

Pharmacists:
The California Board of Pharmacy accepts coursework which meets the standard of relevance to pharmacy practice and has been approved for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™. A maximum of 8.0* C.E.U.s may be reported.

For the purpose of recertification, the American Nurses Credentialing Center accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ issued by organizations accredited by the ACCME. Curricular Goals & Objectives:
Upon completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:

• Apply current infection prevention strategies to reduce the infection risk of surfaces.
• Integrate new strategies in the diagnosis, and treatment of diabetic foot ulcers to reduce wound severity and extending remission time.
• Implement the latest evidenced based clinical practice guidelines for the diagnosis and management of patients with pneumonia.
• Identify adults with Mycobacterium Avium Complex infection and incorporate new MAC agents into evidence-based treatment plans
• Employ the latest strategies in screening, diagnosing, staging, treatment and follow-up care of patients with STDS including Congenital Syphilis.
• Articulate the current epidemiology, diagnosis, treatment and containment challenges of COVID-19.
• Evaluate potential outpatient management strategies for patients with Endocarditis and Osteomyelitis and other at-risk patients
• Apply new recommendations for the utilization of recently approved antimicrobials.
