OVERVIEW

Spinal and Epidural Anesthesia Workshop is organized by Coast to Coast Anesthesia Seminars, Inc and will be held from Mar 20 - 22, 2019 at Sheraton Sand Key Resort, Clearwater Beach, Florida, United States of America.  This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of  16.00 Class A CE credits.

Objectives :
• Review the anatomy and physiology relevant to the subarachnoid space
• List the physiologic changes that occur during spinal anesthesia
• Discuss the commonly used spinal anesthetic agents
• Describe midline and paramedian approaches
• Discuss common causes of difficult neuraxial blocks including anatomic, disease states, and previous surgery
• Relate useful techniques for difficult neuraxial blocks
• Describes the advantages of blocks in patients with altered anatomy
• Review anatomy relevant to the epidural space
• Describe techniques and identify methods to improve the success of the epidural placement
• The listener will be able to list and identify current treatments for local anesthesia toxicity
• The listener will be able to list and identify the physiology of post-dural puncture headache and correct treatment
• The learner will understand the cause of clinical misadventures associated with epidural anesthesia
• Describe the basics of ultrasonography
• List potential advantages and indications for ultrasound-guided neuraxial blocks
• Demonstrates the anatomical landmarks, manipulation of equipment, proper needle insertion, and drug instillation for spinal and epidural anesthesia
• Relate how regional anesthetic techniques with local anesthetics can impact the primary and secondary costs of patient care.
• Describe: signs and symptoms of local anesthetic toxicity, prevention, and treatment of local anesthetic toxicity
• List three advantages of regional anesthetic
• Relate literature-based guidelines for spinal and epidurals with patients on anticoagulants
• Discuss the most commonly encountered anticoagulants
• List presentation of spinal/epidural hematoma
• The learner will be able to list and identify the pharmaceutical mechanism of action of local anesthetics
• Identify common drugs and dosages used in epidural anesthesia
• Recognize the importance of sterile techniques and timely recognition of systemic infection associated with epidural anesthesia
