Second Annual The Cutting Edge - Update in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery is organized by Penn State University (PSU) College of Medicine Continuing Education and will be held from Jan 17 - 20, 2019 at Hilton Marco Island Beach Resort And Spa, Marco Island, Florida, United States of America.

The target audience for this medical event is practising otolaryngologists/head and neck surgeons, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses and other health-care professionals. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 17.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.

Conference Description:
The field of otolaryngology/head and neck surgery continues to evolve with new technologies, treatment options and advanced scientific knowledge. Advances can come rapidly from different areas. This meeting will discuss an array of topics in the field of Otolaryngology, specifically in head and neck surgery, laryngology, facial plastics, otology, skull base surgery, facial plastic, reconstructive surgery and pediatric otolaryngology. In addition to discussing "cutting-edge" topics within these areas of otolaryngology, this activity will focus on practical applications of everyday otolaryngologic care.

Course Objectives:
• Discuss updates in the management of facial fractures.
• Incorporate strategies regarding medical innovation and advancing surgical technique in Otolaryngology.
• Evaluate contemporary management of the unknown primary.
• Identify the shifting role of proton-pump inhibitor (PPI) therapy for laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR).
• Provide current techniques for nerve monitoring during parotid surgery.
• Discuss the use of sialendoscopy in the treatment for salivary stones.
• Explain current strategies and techniques in the management of hearing loss and single-sided deafness.
• Discuss changes in the diagnosis and treatment of cholesteatoma.
• Identify pearls and pitfalls with pain management in the pediatric population.
• Evaluate new approaches and techniques in skull base surgery.
• Evaluate different hemostatic techniques for adenotonsillectomy and thyroid surgery.
• Explain techniques to manage the nasal defect.
• Incorporate algorithms to treat the patient with a non-localizing parathyroid.
