OVERVIEW

Progress in Pediatrics (PIP) Spring 2019 is organized by Kansas Chapter American Academy of Pediatrics (KAAP) and will be held on Apr 05, 2019 at Hilton Garden Inn Salina, Salina, Kansas, United States of America. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 6.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.

Course Overview:
This CME Conference is designed to accommodate the continuing educational needs of the practicing primary care pediatrician, resident in training and other health care professionals. The course will provide the most current technologies and ideas on refugee and immigrant children health, Kawasaki disease, quality improvement in pediatrics, congenital breast anomalies, foster care, treating children who have had cancer and screening for congenital heart disease.

Course Objectives:
• Understand the Academy’s advocacy efforts for Refugee Children.
• Understand diagnosis and treatment of Kawasaki disease based on 2017 AHA Guideline.
• Describe the cardiac complications of Kawasaki disease and its acute management and chronic surveillance.
• Discuss general concepts of quality improvement and consider how to address quality improvement in a pediatric practice setting.
• Describe at least 3 clinical findings associated with congenital or juvenile breast abnormalities and their respective management.
• Understand the current foster care system in Kansas and better care for children in foster care.
• Identify some late effects of cancer treatment and resources to support the follow-up care of children who have had cancer.
• Understand the rationale for screening for CCHD and understand the CCHD screening algorithm.
