Course Description: 
This course is designed for oncology clinicians, including oncologists, nurses, advanced practice professionals, social workers, psychiatrists, and psychologists, who treat cancer patients with psychological and psychiatric distress. This CME course will help clinicians acquire clinical-relevant, cutting-edge knowledge in psycho-oncology using clinical scenarios in an interactive format.

The course will focus on key issues in psycho-oncology such as substance use disorders, delirium, symptom management in different cancer types, couples therapy, caregiver interventions, bereavement counseling, and care of the older patient with cancer. Incorporation of a case-based format and the use of interactive questions and answers to guide focused commentary and presentations by panel members will advance learning. The case scenarios chosen for presentation will highlight the challenges encountered by busy clinicians when faced with distressed patients and/or caregivers.

Course Objectives: 
• Participants will improve their knowledge and competence on a wide variety of psycho-oncology topics including substance use disorders, delirium, symptom management in different cancer types, couples therapy, caregiver interventions, bereavement counseling, and care of the older patient with cancer.
