Conference Description:
This conference has an exciting agenda that will lead with a session on Head Trauma in Athletics. The short and long-term effects of sports related concussion have become an increasingly prevalent topic of conversation within various forms of media and households alike. Neurosurgeons play an important role in treating these patients, developing guidelines, and conducting traumatic brain injury research. We will discuss all sides of this debate, with a particular emphasis on youth sports.

Conference Objectives:
Upon completion of this educational activity, participants should be able to:
• Describe the short and long term effects of concussions and head injury.
• Identify the methods currently being utilized to make youth athletics safer.
• Define the various factors affecting medical litigation from a risk management, legal, and
physician perspective.
• Identify the expected healthcare changes following the 2018 fall elections.
• Compare surgical management and risk avoidance strategies for brain tumor, neurovascular and Chiari Malformation surgery
