2nd Microbiome Movement - Skin Health & Dermatology Summit is organized by Hanson Wade and will be held from Sep 04 - 06, 2019 at The Westin San Diego, San Diego, California, United States of America.
As scientific researchers continue to investigate the complexities of the skin microbiome, our mission for the 2nd Microbiome Movement – Skin Health and Dermatology Summit is simple: Build a collaborative forum that unites forward thinking academic, dermatological and cosmetic researchers, and lay out the foundational framework around the unique scientific and translational challenges involved in developing and commercializing solutions that modify the skin microbiome to treat disease (therapeutics) or support overall skin health (cosmetics).
The conversations have highlighted that although a strong commercial opportunity exists, there are critical areas of basic science that need addressing including study design to elucidate host-microbiome interactions, selecting the right tools to make clear correlations between microbial dysbiosis and skin disease and standardization of sample collection and analysis.
Workshop A
Optimizing Metabolomics Technologies for Development of Microbial-Based Cosmetics & Therapeutics for Skin
09.00-12.00
As advanced sequencing technologies have become more accessible, this has facilitated our understanding in ‘who’s there’ in the skin microbiome. However, it has become even more important that we understand which microbes are functionally useful in maintaining a healthy skin ecology and how this can inform our selection, isolation and culturing of microbes for product development. This workshop will give you the opportunity to understand:
• Where are we now with metabolomics technologies and analysis?
• How are we analyzing cosmetic and therapeutic products using metabolomics and other –omics approaches?
• What are the applications and limitations of these approaches, and how can we translate data into knowledge?
Workshop B
A 360 Panorama of Commercialization for Microbial-Based Therapeutic Products
13.00-16.00
As microbial-based products begin to occupy a greater market share, understanding the best way to get these products to market and communicating their value to consumers will be crucial to ensuring
their success. The workshop will give you the opportunity to understand:
• Microbial-based product development through a commercial lens: How do you access a market with no single entry point and what are the barriers to entry?
• What does it mean to have a robust IP portfolio and how will IP filing for microbial-based therapeutics change in the future?
• How to reach end-users through positioning and differentiation of microbial-based therapeutics in order to stay competitive?
