Program Description:
Recovery & Resilience for Patients and Families Impacted by Adversity: Trauma-Informed Care is a multidisciplinary, interprofessional, continuing education conference designed to help all members of the care team, both clinical and administrative, to recognize the signs and symptoms of trauma in patients, families, and staff. It will teach all members of the care team how to respond by integrating knowledge about trauma into policies and practices and will seek to actively prevent re-traumatization. This training program will bring together the science of the impact of childhood trauma on the brain with evidence-based strategies to best support families and patients and mitigate the effects of adverse childhood experiences.

Educational Objectives:
• Support greater awareness in the community about the widespread impact of trauma (adverse experiences).
• Recognize the signs and symptoms of trauma in patients, families, and staff.
• Incorporate trauma-informed responses and practices into community systems and organizations.
• Seek to actively prevent re-traumatization.
• Recruit more Trauma Informed Care Network members with a focus on underrepresented disciplines: medical community, police, etc.
• Prepare a coordinated response to community violence for future use, if needed.
