2019 ICJR Residents and Fellows Course: Advanced Concepts in Total Hip & Knee Arthroplasty is organized by International Congress for Joint Reconstruction (ICJR) and will be held from Oct 10 - 12, 2019 at New York Marriott Marquis, New York City, New York, United States of America. Target Audience:
Orthopaedic fellows and senior residents (PGY 4 & PGY 5) interested in specializing in adult reconstruction. More specifically, those who already have experience with primary hip and knee arthroplasty and now want to expand their knowledge and skillset in performing complex primary and revision procedures.

Overview:
This course is designed to address the educational needs of senior residents (PGY 4 & PGY 5) and fellows interested in adult reconstruction, specifically, those who already have experience with primary hip and knee arthroplasty and now want to expand their knowledge in performing complex primary and revision procedures.

The interactive course format will consist of didactic presentations, small group discussions, case presentations, a live surgery, and a 3-hour hands-on bioskills lab, where attendees will have ample time to practice and improve their technique. The expert faculty will address some of the key topics in advanced joint replacement, including:
• Severe valgus and varus deformity
• Optimizing leg length, offset, and component positioning
• Evaluating the painful joint replacement
• Poly exchange for stiffness, instability, and infection
• Exposure for revision THA, from routine to ETO
• Instability and constraint

Learning Objectives:
• Discuss current trends and identify the various treatment options, approaches, and surgical techniques for complex primary and revision total hip arthroplasty (THA) and total knee arthroplasty (TKA).
• Implement strategies and techniques to prevent complications in complex primary and revision THA and TKA, and evaluate potential outcomes.
• Develop an understanding of the surgical techniques and failure mechanisms for revision THA & TKA
• Identify and apply current strategies for pain management, instability, and fractures in total joint arthroplasty.
• Evaluate the various options for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of infection in complex primary and revision THA and TKA.
• Differentiate and compare implant options for complex primary and revision THA and TKA based on patient factors, design qualities, and reported outcomes.
