Conference Overview:
Over the past few years, a growing body of evidence supports common origins of chronic diseases, such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, dementia and cancer. Now in their fourth meeting, ACAM and AAPMD
uniquely demonstrate how medicine & dentistry can collaborate in both assessment & treatment of patients for better overall healthcare.
Learning Objectives:
• Promote and share knowledge to reduce human and societal toll from neurodegenerative and inflammatory disorders, cancer and infectious diseases
• Advance understanding of how recent advances in nutritional science can positively impact on metabolic, hormonal, and neurochemical communications networks
• Advance understanding of the impact of oral pathology and sleep disorders on immune and hormone systems and its impact on chronic degenerative diseases
• Enhance diagnosis and care of adults with stroke, dementia and other neurodegenerative conditions based on sound scientific evidence
Sub Objectives:
• Interpret evidence that nutritional choices positively and negatively affect inflammation and mitochondrial function
• Identify and treat epigenetic drivers of inflammation such as hormonal and immune dysregulation and reduced energy utilization
• Determine genetic and epigenetic risk factors for developing complications of infectious diseases such as
neurodegenerative and cardiovascular disease, autoimmunity and cancer
• Understand the epidemiology, impact and therapeutic options for patients with neurodegenerative disorders
