29th Annual UC Davis Anesthesiology Update is organized by UC Davis Conference and Event Services (CES), UC Davis Health and will be held from Nov 02 - 04, 2018 at Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa, Monterey, California, United States of America.
The target audience for this medical event is anesthesiologists, pain medicine physicians, nurses, nurse anesthetists, residents, and fellows involved with the perioperative care of surgical patients. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 19 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.
Course Description:
This year’s conference will provide practitioners with evidence based methods and strategies to assist them in providing better treatment options for their patients. Faculty presenting and interacting with participants at this activity have been selected on the basis of their comprehensive clinical experience and academic excellence.
Course Objectives are:
By the end of this conference the attendee will be able to:
• Discuss the indications for truncal blocks.
• Identify the risk factors for chronic post-surgical pain.
• Discuss the indications, side effects and dosing of gabapentinoids and NMDA receptor antagonists.
• Discuss the pharmacology of cannabinoids and implications for anesthesia.
• Discuss functional cardiac changes associated with diastolic dysfunction.
• Describe the perioperative management of atrial arrhythmias.
• Identify strategies to optimize glycemic control during the perioperative period.
• Discuss the importance of video laryngoscopy for pediatric anesthesia.
• Discuss the recent literature about pediatric hemodynamics under anesthesia.
• Identify risk factors for the development of stroke in the patient with preeclampsia.
• Discuss factors associated with burnout, depression and substance abuse in the healthcare professional and be able to formulate a plan to address these problems.
• Workshop attendees will additionally be able to demonstrate the ability to use point of care ultrasound (POCUS) to evaluate cardiac and pulmonary function.
• Demonstrate the ability to perform ultrasound-guided peripheral nerve blocks on the upper and lower extremities and trunk.
