The Alfred Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Critically Ill Airway (CIA) Course 2018

The Alfred Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Critically Ill Airway (CIA) Course is organized by The Alfred Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and would be held during Mar 19 - 20, 2018 at Australian Centre for Health Innovation, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

The target audience for this medical event for trainees in critical care specialties with previous experience managing airways, consultants and other senior doctors requiring an update and refresher in airway management of the critically ill, suitably experienced prehospital healthcare providers.

Airway management of the critically ill, particularly in settings outside of the operating theatre is uniquely challenging. This two-day course will help participants develop a safe, flexible approach to airway management issues, including the difficult airway and optional percutaneous tracheostomy training, tailored to the specific requirements of the critically ill patients.

The course builds on online pre-course learning materials with interactive ‘hands on’ practical sessions and simulation scenarios that run the full gamut of airway crisis in the critically ill. The faculty includes multi-disciplinary experts in the management of the critically ill airway, who are also enthusiastic and expert educators and simulationists.
