OVERVIEW
Tuberculosis (TB) Intensive Workshop is organized by Global Tuberculosis Institute (GTBI) and will be held during Jun 05 - 08, 2018 at Global Tuberculosis Institute, Newark, New Jersey, United States of America. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 24.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.
The target audience for this medical event is designed for physicians, nurses, and healthcare professionals who are involved in the diagnosis and management of TB patients. Individuals who work in the following settings would benefit from attending this workshop: TB Programs, Health Departments, Hospital Infection Control, Correctional Facilities, Immigrant & Refugee Health, Community Health Centers, College or University Health Services, Long Term Care Facilities.
Conference Description :
This four-day workshop for clinicians provides comprehensive information on the principles and application of TB diagnosis and treatment, as well as the management of TB in special populations. Topics include transmission & pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment, drug resistance, TB-HIV co-infection, TB in children and adolescents, and key aspects of patient management. The format includes lectures, interactive discussions, small group work, and case studies.
As the incidence of tuberculosis continues to decline, maintaining clinical and public health expertise in TB is particularly challenging. Therefore, ongoing training and education are important for healthcare providers to enhance skills in TB diagnosis, follow recommended treatment guidelines, and interact effectively with public health agencies. This type of training is also important for new clinicians working in TB control or other settings.
Conference Objectives are :
Upon completion of this workshop, participants should be better able to:
• List approaches for addressing clinical and social challenges in the management of patients with tuberculosis to achieve successful outcomes
• Interpret epidemiologic trends to better screen and treat groups who are at high risk for tuberculosis
• Implement recommendations for prompt diagnosis, appropriate treatment and effective management of tuberculosis disease
• Integrate current recommendations for the prevention and management of tuberculosis in children and adolescents
• Develop strategies for the care of TB patients with co-morbidities to ensure prompt diagnosis, integrated treatment, and effective management
• Apply the latest advances for assessing risk, testing and treating TB infection to prevent development of disease.
