Strategies for a Successful Robotic Surgery Team is organized by The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUMC) and will be held on Jun 02, 2018 at The James Cancer Hospital, Columbus, Ohio, United States of America. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 6.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.

The introduction of a sophisticated robotic system can bring many challenges for a surgical team when it comes to communication and teamwork. Additional surgical specialities and procedures are being adapted to robotic surgery every year; and there is a documented need for improved communication, teamwork and training for dedicated teams in robotic surgery to ensure a safe and efficient procedure for the best possible patient outcomes

This course will provide surgical teams currently working in robotic surgery and teams just starting to adopt robotics into their facilities the strategies and skills necessary to successfully implement and run a robotic surgery program for multiple specialities. The course will focus on improving communication, teamwork, OR efficiency and patient safety with the use of didactic lectures and hands-on breakout sessions.

Conference Objectives are :
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:
• Discuss the need for education and training for staff when adopting new procedures;
• Recognize patient considerations and co-morbidities in robotic surgery;
• Describe factor of positioning in robotic cases for patient safety;
• Discuss effective port placement and optimize the use of robotic and laparoscopic assistant ports;
• Identify the administrative aspects of implementing robotic technology;
• Recognize safe and efficient aspects of OR setup and turnover;
• Describe the roles of the surgical team members if the need to convert to open surgery occurs;
• Identify the steps needed to troubleshoot robotic equipment.
