OVERVIEW

6th Annual Structural Heart Disease Conference: Valvular, Non-Valvular, and Congenital Interventions is organized by The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUMC) and will be held on Jun 01, 2018 at The Dorothy M. Davis Heart & Lung Research Institute, Columbus, Ohio, United States of America.

The target audience for this medical event is cardiologists. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 8.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.

Heart failure and cardiomyopathy are direct results of valvular heart disease. Heart failure management is challenging in patients with structural heart disease. As more patients develop degenerative structural heart disease, it is important for local cardiologists and heart failure specialists to understand when patients are appropriate for referral or intervention. The development of a collaborative team effort amongst all clinical areas is essential. Individuals with congenital heart disease are surviving longer than before. Accordingly, many adult cardiologists are faced with the management of congenital heart conditions. One endeavour of this CME activity is to improve the overall knowledge concerning device-based therapies for adult congenital heart disease - from indications to timing to device selection.

Conference Objectives are :
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:
• Describe the characterization of aortic stenosis, the timing of referral, and the options for aortic valve replacement;
• Discuss the classification of mitral valve regurgitation, how to medically optimize these patients, and device-based options for mitral valve disease;
• Discuss the importance of multidisciplinary structural heart and congenital heart disease teams;
• Identify patients that will benefit from tricuspid valve interventions;
• Recognized the population of patients that stand to benefit from left atrial appendage closure;
• Discuss emerging strategies for treating diastolic heart failure;
• Describe the anatomy of septal defects, and indications for closure;
• Review the management of adults with coarctation of the aorta and the necessity and timing for intervention.

Additional details will be posted as soon as they are available.
