OVERVIEW
Pediatric Hospice and Palliative Care: Advances and Innovations (Pedi-Innovate) is organized by American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (AAHPM) and will be held from Aug 09 - 11, 2018 at Hyatt Regency Minneapolis, Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States of America. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 16.50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.
Course Purpose:
This summer pediatrics course will be a forum for interdisciplinary healthcare professionals and others with an interest in pediatric palliative care to deepen their knowledge and understanding of this nascent and rapidly-evolving field.
Through this course, we aim to advance pediatrics in hospice and palliative care for children with serious illness, thereby optimizing their quality of life, regardless of treatment course or illness trajectory. Learners will improve their knowledge, competence, and change their performance, leading over time to enhanced patient outcomes.
Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
• Translate advances in clinical and scientific knowledge to the practical, holistic care of children and families who can benefit from pediatric palliative care.
• Develop patient care plans that integrate state of the art psychological, spiritual, social, and cultural approaches to care of children with life-threatening conditions and their families.
• Identify, through networking opportunities, contacts for collaboration in clinical care, research, advocacy, education and program development.
• Generate new ideas to further advance the delivery and practice of pediatric hospice and palliative care (PHPC), whether it be the realms of clinical care, research, advocacy, education or program development.
