Parkinson's Disease and Beyond: An Update in Movement Disorders is organized by Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and will be held on Oct 27, 2018 at Sony Pictures Studio Tour, Culver City, California, United States of America.

Course Description:
This conference will explore the challenges and opportunities for clinicians and healthcare professionals managing patients with all types of movement disorders, including Parkinson's Disease (PD). Parkinson's Disease is the 14th-leading cause of death in the United States. An estimated 1.5 million individuals have PD, with approximately 60,000 new cases diagnosed every year. To meet the needs of this patient population, this conference will bring together expert faculty with unique, multidisciplinary scientific and clinical backgrounds to update participants on recent advances in the multidisciplinary care approach, cognitive changes, medication management, deep brain stimulation and new devices. Other topics to be addressed include the importance of healthy sleep habits, managing depression, and anxiety, the emphasis of gait and balance and the influence of developing a healthy lifestyle. This course will also update all attendees on other various movement disorders, including essential tremors (ET), dystonia, multiple system atrophy (MSA), progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) and Tourette’s, as well as explore current and emerging research efforts.
Course Objectives:
• Summarize the new definition and criteria for identifying patients with this disease and how to detect early symptoms
• Define surgical approaches for PD, ET, and Dystonia patients as they fall into the criteria for DBS surgery for symptom management
• Identify the differences between Parkinson’s Disease (PD), atypical PD and essential tremor (ET)
• Recognize the various forms of Dystonia, including DYT1, generalized dystonia, and focal dystonia and the options for treatment
