Ohio Workers’ Compensation Medical and Health Symposium 2018 is organized by The Ohio State University and will be held during Mar 08 - 09, 2018 at Greater Columbus Convention Center, Columbus, Ohio, United States of America. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 12.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.

Ohio BWC has sponsored the Ohio Safety Congress & Expo – the largest and longest-running occupational safety, health, and workers’ compensation conference in Ohio for many years. This event is designed to educate healthcare professionals on the quality of care management of Ohio’s injured workers relative to the latest trends with research, best practices among healthcare providers, and management of injured workers in a comprehensive and holistic approach. This symposium features leading national and state experts within their respective fields.
Due to the number of neuromusculoskeletal injuries our providers evaluate/treat and media attention to mild brain injury, presenters will discuss injuries to the shoulder, concussion, and functional status as it relates to recovery and dealing with the impacts it has among our injured workers. The provider will recognize innovative ways to approach injured workers who have some designated disability and the causal relationship between those injuries and how it relates to functionality.
In addition, presenters will discuss the latest trends in research relative to addiction and evidence-based intervention strategies that identify signs, symptoms, and risk factors relative to managing the disease of addiction, especially related to opioids. Also, there is growing interest in population health management, health and behavioral assessment intervention strategies, and understanding diversity trends in healthcare.
Conference Objective:
Completion of this continuing medical activity will enable participants to:
• Discuss the impact of paralysis on an individual and their family;
• Discuss how to analyze return to work issues with scientific evidence;
• Describe how to conceptualize concussion as a heterogeneous entity;
• Discuss the challenges of returning shoulder patients to work;
• Identify resources related to culturally competent care;
• Identify current and emerging pharmacy trends influencing workers' compensation;
• Summarize the importance of screening for addiction and describe how to use at least one validated screening tool;
• Describe evidence-based approach to causation;
• Describe a range of non-medical factors that can impede recovery following work injury
