Course Description:
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Mentalization-based Treatment are both empirically validated methods to treat experiences and behaviors related to early negative attachment events, and associated often with Borderline Personality Disorder. This symposium is designed to explore the similarities and differences between these two approaches, looking for the places where they can be synthesized in multifaceted treatments. Four experts will detail the efficacy of each modality for both adults and adolescents, followed by a panel discussion comprised of all presenters who will discuss specific applications of each model based on attendee inquiries and case studies.
