OVERVIEW
Management of Pediatric Sedation Emergencies: A Simulation Course is organized by American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) and will be held on Mar 11, 2018 at Northwestern Simulation Center, Chicago, Illinois, United States of America.
The target audience for this medical event is pediatric dentists who wish to sharpen and practice their cognitive skills and rescue techniques involving emergent pediatric sedation scenarios using SimMan technology. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 9 CE Hours.
Course Description :
While no one ever expects an emergency situation to arise, attending this course will help you and your team be more prepared should the unexpected arise. This course is designed to simulate emergencies that may occur in a pediatric dental office. It will offer some didactic materials but will focus on team-driven assessment and responsiveness to situations that might arise during sedation of children for operative care. The course is intended for pediatric dentists who are currently using sedation techniques in their office and will allow for the participant to make quick assessments of patient status and simulate airway techniques, while managing real-time trending of physiological status with the goal of stabilizing the patient. You will be able to immediately implement training protocols for your practice that you’ve learned in the course.
Course Objectives :
Upon completion of the course, the participant will be able to:
• Demonstrate steps associated with assessment of patient clinical signs associated with a variety of emergent conditions
• Demonstrate effective airway management skills using bag-valve-mask and other airway techniques
• Demonstrate familiarization with monitors and monitoring techniques
• Detail emergency protocol and implement procedures upon returning to their offices
