Course Description :
Medical providers are often called upon to weigh in on management issues related to patients with brain tumors or systemic cancer with metastasis to the brain. They must recognize syndromes that predate cancer diagnosis, complications of therapy and sequelae. This program will consist of several sessions:
• The current management and new WHO classification of Gliomas.
• The diagnosis and management of neurological complications of metastatic brain cancer and its treatment.
• Diagnosis and management of neuro-oncologic emergencies.
• A tumor board format to discuss cases of interest.

Course Objectives :
• Examine evidence-based emergent management of metastatic epidural spinal cord compression.
• Identify and manage increased intracranial pressure in brain tumor patients.
• Develop a differential diagnosis for acute mental status changes in a cancer patient.
• Apply the appropriate management of acute stroke in cancer patients.
• Examine the treatment of novel neurologic complications in patients receiving immune checkpoint inhibitors.
• Apply the appropriate diagnosis and management of common metastatic and neurologic complications of cancer treatment and paraneoplastic syndromes.
• Examine the current diagnosis, classification, supportive care, and treatment of gliomas.
