Hereditary Cancer Symposium for Health Care Providers

Hereditary Cancer Symposium for Health Care Providers is organized by University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and will be held on Apr 21, 2018 at MD Anderson Cancer Prevention Center, Houston, Texas, United States of America.

The target audience for this medical event provides knowledge to health care providers to identify patterns of hereditary cancer predisposition. The knowledge gained will increase cancer prevention by escalating applicable cancer screenings, skills and managing patients appropriately. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 6.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits, of which 0.25 are in the area of medical ethics.

Educational Objectives :
This educational symposium will ensure that the healthcare providers emerge with enhanced skills and the ability to improve patient care. Upon completion of the symposium, the participants will have extensive knowledge in:
• Implement guidelines to assess and screen high-risk patients in daily practice.
• Select and employ a referral screening tool in clinical practice to help identify the at-risk patient.
• Evaluate analytical validity, clinical validity, and clinical utility of genetic testing options available to determine appropriate test choice.
• Recognize key features associated with potential hereditary cancer predisposition adequately to refer at-risk patients for cancer risk assessment.
• Recognize surgical interventions, screening protocols, and systemic therapies appropriate for specific hereditary cancer predisposition syndromes/genes.
• Describe fertility preservation and family planning options available.
• Recognize psychosocial implications of identifying a hereditary predisposition to cancer for both patient and family.
