College of Psychiatric and Neurologic Pharmacists (CPNP) Annual meeting - Advancing the spectrum of patient care is organized by College of Psychiatric and Neurologic Pharmacists (CPNP) and will be held during Apr 21 - 25, 2018 at JW Marriott Indianapolis, Indianapolis, Indiana, United States of America. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 19.5 contact hours

Credit Information :
The 2018 Annual Meeting will provide up to 16 contact hours of knowledge-based and application-based continuing education credit from CPNP approved programming. The pre-meeting workshop is provided for an additional 3.5 contact hours.

Conference Description :
This Meeting has been designed to bridge the perceived practice and knowledge gap between current knowledge and practice in a number of areas of psychiatric, neurologic, and addiction pharmacy practice. Published evidence-based guidelines help establish standards in regard to medications, dosing, and treatment, however, there are often disparities seen in clinical practice when compared to these guidelines.

Additionally, many guidelines fail to keep up with emerging treatments and controversial issues or simply do not address practical day-to-day treatment dilemmas. This meeting will attempt to bridge this gap in treatment and knowledge with selected psychiatric, neurologic, and substance use disorder issues.

Pre-Meeting Workshop :
Creative and Collaborative - Pharmacists on the Front-line of Medication Assisted Treatment for Opioid Use Disorder will be held on Apr 22, 2018.

This session will showcase different practice settings where psychiatric pharmacists partner with prescribers to provide collaborative care for patients with substance use disorders. The learner will leave with knowledge of innovative ways to include pharmacists on the MAT interprofessional team and how to design and execute effective practice protocols. In addition, the learner will explore the pharmacist’s role in addressing controversies and challenges in providing MAT with regard to state and federal level limitations.

Pharmacists participating in this program will be able to :
• Evaluate the need and capacity for medication assisted treatment for opioid use disorder on the state and national levels.
• Compare outcomes from collaborations integrating pharmacists in the medication assisted treatment care team in different practice settings across the United States.
• Describe the barriers and benefits encountered in establishing a collaborative practice agreement with prescribers to provide medication assisted treatment.
• Engage legislators, state administrators, and professional organizations to promote the role of pharmacists in medication assisted treatment.

Recertification for the BCPP :
Clinical Application Series will be held during Apr 22 - 23, 2018. Eligible for Board Certified Psychiatric Pharmacist (BCPP) Recertification Credit, these sessions provide therapeutic, evidence-based content offering practical application for those in all settings. Integrated throughout the meeting, these five hours of recertification programming cover :
• Painfully Sleepless: Treatment of Sleep Disturbances in Fibromyalgia
• Identification and Management of Delirium in the Elderly
• Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Psychosis
• Current Controversies with Psychotropic Use in Pregnancy
• A Complicated Relationship: Depression, Insomnia, and Hepatitis C

These sessions are open to all registered Annual Meeting attendees. Those desiring Recertification credit must also purchase the Clinical Application Series to gain access to the Recertification testing center.
