Course Description :
This two-day continuing medical education symposium is the sixth in the series and will center on the nuts and bolts of everyday care for patients with cardiovascular diseases, and present new ideas for tailoring the most appropriate treatment plan for each individual. A focus will be placed on gauging and monitoring therapy, including recognizing symptoms, evaluating risk factors, guiding treatment through imaging, general and functional testing, and appropriate therapy. Unlike most programs, this will be delivered as a case-based approach. In other words, how would I manage a diabetic patient with these lipid levels? Case examples make the lectures more relevant to everyday practitioners.

The 2018 scientific program will be released online in the coming months. Working with the most current data from recent evidence-based medicine studies as well as new guidelines, the invited faculty will provide updates and detailed discussions on statins, PCSK9 inhibitors, heart failure, PFO closure, peripheral vascular disease, hypertension, diabetes, wound care, TAVR, atrial fibrillation and more. The overall goal of this series is to provide an overview of the optimal methods and management of the informed physician’s practice, and to discuss and debate the exciting options on the horizon.

Program Educational Objectives :
Upon completion of the meeting, attendees should be able to:
• Understand the new lipid agents and their potential impact on risk factors
• Examine the serious complications of diabetes, particularly peripheral vascular disease and wound care from the perspective of a cardiovascular specialist
• Compare and contrast management of the most common arrhythmia, atrial fibrillation
• Understand the clinical evaluation and treatment of congestive heart failure
• Recognize and evaluate patients with cardiovascular disease seen in a day-to-day practice setting, and to be able to gauge and manage therapy of these patients
