Tips and Tricks for Orthopedic Surgeons

Tips and Tricks for Orthopedic Surgeons is organized by AO North America and will be held from Nov 01 - 04, 2018 at JW Marriott Marco Island Beach Resort, Marco Island, Florida, United States of America. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 21.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.

The target audience for this medical event is community-based surgeons. It will also be valuable to surgeons who are at level III, IV, or V trauma centers with familiarity of the basic techniques and principles of internal fixation. The format will consist of didactic sessions, and small group discussions on various trauma cases.

Course Description:
Musculoskeletal disorders and diseases are the leading cause of disability in the United States and account for more than one-half of all chronic conditions in people over 50 years of age. Treatments that mitigate the long-term impact of musculoskeletal disease and return patients to full and active lives are needed.

New surgical techniques and technologies are now available to assist the orthopedic surgeon in the treatment of complex fractures, particularly with traumatic injuries. Community-based orthopedic surgeons need to know how to apply new surgical techniques and technologies now available to assist them in the treatment of complex fractures.

Learning Objectives :
Upon completion, participants should be able to:
• Explain recent technological advances in the treatment of difficult fractures
• Describe current techniques for improved wound and fracture healing as well as fracture reduction and fixation options
• Develop a comprehensive treatment plan for patients with commonly encountered complex fractures
• Describe current options for the treatment of complex periarticular fractures and dislocations
• Identify contemporary issues in the management of complex shoulder, elbow and wrist trauma
