AOTrauma Master Course Traumatology of the elderly patient is organized by AOTrauma and will be held during May 14 - 15, 2018 at Imperial Riding School Renaissance Vienna Hotel, Vienna, Wien, Austria.

Course Description :
This course will teach the key surgical, medical and systemic issues of orthogeriatric co-management through a combination of case-based and evidence-based lectures, case presentations and small group discussion.
In addition, the latest surgical techniques are presented.
A team of experts consisting of surgeons and geriatricians accompanies the work in small groups and enables interdisciplinary discussions.
Learning objectives are :
• Develop treatment strategies for the surgical management of fragility fractures (osteosynthesis or endoprosthesis) to avoid revision surgery
• To detect concomitant diseases and polypharmacy and to treat them from preoperative preparation to postoperative follow-up
• Adequately treat patients with existing anticoagulation
• To prevent or identify and treat medical complications such as delirium
• To organize the secondary fracture prevention
• To establish orthogeriatric co-management and to be able to deal with the challenges of such a model
