AOCMF Course - TMJ Pain and Dysfunction from Diagnosis to Treatment is organized by AO Foundation and will be held during Jun 20 - 21, 2018 at Department of Anatomy, University of Basel, Basel, Basel-Stadt, Switzerland.

Course Description:
This course teaches the theoretical and practical knowledge of this particular subspecialty of oral and maxillofacial surgery. Comprehensive lectures and small group discussions on day 1 will address the theoretical background. This will be matched on day 2 with extensive hands on training on well preserved Thiel-fixated specimens and round table group discussions.

Goal of the Course:
This course aims to enable participants in the management of temporomandibular joint disorder patients from basics of diagnostics, different treatment options from conservative therapy to advanced surgical treatment including joint replacement.

Learning Objectives:
• Describe the most common TMJ disorders
• Explain the available treatment options
• Perform a proper examination of TMJ patients
• Identify the appropriate treatment modality for TMJ patients based on examination and instrumented assessment and radiological diagnostics
• Perform the key steps in the surgical procedures for the treatment of TMJ disorders
