OVERVIEW

AOCMF Course-Head & Neck Tumors; Advanced Surgery is organized by AO Foundation and will be held during May 25 - 26, 2018 at The Nairobi Hospital, Nairobi, Kenya.

The target audience for this medical event is CMF musculoskeletal oncologists, ENT surgeons, Oral and maxillofacial surgeons, Plastic surgeons.

Course Description:
The course addresses the management of craniofacial tumors and the reconstruction of ablative defects in the craniofacial region.

Topics of the course are addressed in three main ways. The symposium concentrates on understanding the principles of tumor management. Practical sessions cover various surgical techniques applying material covered in the symposium and video demonstrations are used to supplement the practical exercises. Discussions are held throughout the course to link the lecture material and practical skills with the problems encountered by the participants in their individual practice.

Conference Objectives are:
• Describe how to sequentially approach the management of head and neck and craniofacial tumors
• Describe the different types of neck dissection
• Describe the different types of flaps available for reconstruction
• Explain how to raise common microvascular flaps used in head and neck reconstruction
