OVERVIEW
Northwestern's Fourth Annual Updates in Clinical and Surgical Gynecology is organized by Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine - Office of Continuing Medical Education and will be held from Oct 12 - 13, 2018 at Northwestern Medicine Prentice Women's Hospital, Chicago, Illinois, United States of America.

Course Description:
This CME activity aims to update learners on current guidelines for various gynecologic disorders. Given the specialized nature of these diseases, it is difficult for the community physician in clinical practice to maintain up to date knowledge regarding the diagnosis and treatment of these conditions. Healthcare providers may lack strategies for applying this new knowledge into their clinical and surgical gynecologic practice.
Course Objectives:
• Review and apply vaginal surgical techniques to current practice.
• Describe current diagnostic and treatment options for pelvic floor dysfunction in relation to its impact on pelvic pain.
• Explain the current evidence on contraception’s effectiveness and utility in the obese population to current practice.
• Explain and apply current evidence for egg freezing and fertility preservation for women delaying fertility.
• Discuss current diagnostic and treatment modalities of endometrial hyperplasia in the obese population.
• Identify and utilize current evidence for prophylactic salpingectomy in the setting of tubal ligation and benign hysterectomy.
• Review new and current therapeutic approaches to uterine fibroids and apply to practice.
• Explain how surgical volume affects clinical outcomes in practice.
• Review old techniques, utilize new techniques and apply these techniques to current surgical practice in hysteroscopy and laparoscopy.
