ACRO Proton Therapy Symposium - Miami

American College of Radiation Oncology (ACRO) Proton Therapy Symposium is organized by Baptist Health South Florida and will be held from Dec 01 - 02, 2018 at Miami Cancer Institute, Miami, Florida, United States of America.

The target audience for this medical event is physicians, physicists, and dosimetrists currently practicing, or planning to practice, proton therapy, or those who simply want to know more about this treatment modality to enhance professional competence. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 10.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.

Course Description:
ACRO Proton Therapy Symposium-Miami will provide proton therapy teams with a valuable and practical opportunity to explore future directions in proton therapy, the latest evidence-based proton treatment planning for specific diseases and disease sites, as well as strategies for patient selection and expanding access to proton therapy through cost-effective utilization and engagement with payors and government. International experts will review best practice proton therapy approaches to lymphoma and cancers of the head, neck, prostate, liver and the central nervous system including pediatric patient treatment. The setting and format allow physicians, physicists and dosimetrists to learn in a relaxed environment with plenty of opportunity for interaction with faculty and peers and exhibitors to expand the clinical knowledge base of proton therapy for cancer treatment.

Course Objectives are:
• Implement the latest proton beam therapy techniques for cancers of the breast, head and neck, prostate, liver, lung, lymphoma, as well as adult and pediatric brain tumors.
• Describe the fundamental principles behind proton therapy treatment planning
• Examine the full clinical potential and benefits of proton beam therapy, and explore emerging therapies and future directions.
• Evaluate the latest evidence on pencil beam scanning methods and dose calculation algorithms.
• Identify the current limitations of proton beam therapy and explore innovative solutions currently in development.
• Describe methods to optimize patient selection, access in the community, and cost effectiveness of proton therapy.
