The target audience for this medical event is Senior residents, fellows, practicing surgeons. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 8.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.
Conference Description :
This course is designed to allow you to interact with faculty to maximize your ability to care for patients with challenging hand fractures. Participants will systematically analyze hand fractures, complications and complex trauma, discuss treatment plans and outcomes in small group discussions with hand experts. Treatment plans will be based on fracture management principles rather than upon anyone implant, group of implants or singular universal technique. This interactive course will increase your knowledge and confidence in managing hand trauma patients.
These AO Principles will be stressed:
• Anatomic reduction.
• Stable fixation.
• Preservation of the blood supply.
• Functional aftercare.
• Early mobilization.
Conference Objectives are :
• Differentiate between management of non-operative fractures and fractures that need operative stabilization.
• Describe the indications for internal fixation of hand and wrist fractures, and the criteria for implant selection.
• Identify alternative fixation methods and their role in fracture management.
• Explain the importance of soft tissue preservation in the operative management of unstable hand fractures.
