8th Annual Pacific Northwest Head and Neck Cancer Symposium is organized by Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA), Swedish Medical Center (SMC) and will be held on Nov 02, 2018 at UW Medicine at South Lake Union, Seattle, Washington, United States of America.
The target audience for this medical event is physicians and allied health professionals who desire a review and update in current standards of care for oncology patients. Specifically, Otolaryngology, Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Dental specialists, Primary Care Providers, Speech and Language Pathology, and Allied Health providers involved in head and neck cancer. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 7.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.
Conference Description:
This conference will provide cutting-edge information for clinicians who care for patients with HPV-driven Oropharyngeal Cancer. The speakers represent a multidisciplinary group of experts in the fields of Head and Neck Surgery, Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Speech and Language Pathology, and Epidemiology. Lectures and panels will cover the diagnosis and treatment of HPV-driven head and neck cancer, prevention, counseling of patients regarding the unique implications of HPV infection, as well as future directions for management of this disease.
Conference Objectives:
Upon completion of this activity, attendees should be able to:
• Review the basic epidemiology and pathophysiology of HPV infections of the head & neck
• Counsel patients about the role of vaccination and screening for HPV infections of the head & neck
• Apply the recent changes to the AJCC staging system to patients with oropharyngeal carcinoma
• Describe the surgical options available to patients with HPV+ oropharyngeal carcinoma
• Discuss the role of chemotherapy and radiation in the treatment of patients with HPV+ oropharyngeal carcinoma
• Discuss common complications and complex cases via panel discussion with a group of oropharyngeal carcinoma experts
• Describe the current avenues of research and latest trials related to HPV-positive oropharyngeal carcinoma
