54th Annual Internal Medicine Program
OVERVIEW
54th Annual Internal Medicine Program is organized by University of Colorado School of Medicine and will be held from Jul 15 - 20, 2018 at YMCA of the Rockies - Estes Park Center, Estes Park, Colorado, United States of America. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 24 Credits.
Course Overview:
Welcome to the 54th Annual Internal Medicine Program, a highly practical and evidence-based update of topics in Internal Medicine and allied specialties that are the most rapidly changing. This program is designed to meet the needs of busy practitioners who practice ambulatory and traditionalist medicine as they care for some of the most challenging cases facing primary care providers today. The highest rated speakers from 15 specialties will deliver state-of-the-art lectures and workshops on topics directly chosen by community physicians and previous registrants who personally recognize the learning needs of clinicians.
This year’s program includes talks and interactive workshops designed to sharpen diagnostic and therapeutic skills in Rheumatology, Endocrinology, Hematology, Otolaryngology, Hospital Medicine, Genetics, Cardiology, Gastroenterology/Hepatology, Neurology, Infectious Diseases, and General Internal Medicine in addition to the allied specialties of Psychiatry, ENT, Sleep Medicine, and Orthopedics. Ample time will be given so that registrants can ask questions and explore clinical challenges with the speakers.
Course Objectives:
At the end of this conference, course participants should be able to:
• Perform POCUS for select office-based conditions, office-based injections for orthopedic conditions, appropriate evaluation and selection of cardiac testing for chest symptoms, correct interpretation of rheumatologic serology testing, routine vaccinations according to updated guidelines, appropriate interviews and identification of medical needs for transgender individuals.
• Manage rheumatoid arthritis, C. Diff infections, depression and anxiety disorders, atrial fibrillation, diabetes, myeloproliferative disorders, insomnia, essential hypertension, Alzheimer’s.
• Identify drug-induced autoimmune disorders, endocrine causes of secondary hypertension, candidates for colorectal cancer screening, candidates for genetic testing or referral.
• Prescribe treatment for hepatitis C in clinic, accurate CPAP equipment with correct interpretation and documentation, smoking cessation protocols for patients ready to quit tobacco.
• Report on the current state of American Healthcare relative to other nations and some of the underpinnings for our rankings, the latest high impact articles affecting hospitalized adult medicine patients, the current knowledge of the medical impact of marijuana and demographics of usage in the US.
