37th Aspen Conference on Pediatric Disease is organized by The University of Chicago - Center for Continuing Medical Education and will be held from Aug 06 - 10, 2018 at Mountain Chalet Aspen, Aspen, Colorado, United States of America.

The target audience for this medical event is designed for practising pathologists, fellows in pediatric pathology, senior pathology residents, and other health professionals interested in pediatric neoplastic and non-neoplastic diseases. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 24.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit.

Course Description:
Continuing in the tradition of pediatric pathology conferences in the Aspen area since 1970, the 2018 lecture-based course is designed for general and pediatric pathologists, but will be of interest to pediatric surgeons and paediatricians who would like to advance their knowledge in various pediatric neoplastic and non-neoplastic diseases. Handouts and PowerPoint presentations, including case discussions, will be posted on The University of Chicago website. In advance, each participant will receive a microscopic slide set of 24 cases with clinical histories. The cases will be discussed in detail during the conference. A microscope will be available to review with faculty interesting cases that participants may bring to the conference.

Course Objectives:
• Produce a diagnostic approach for the examination of neoplastic and non-neoplastic childhood diseases
• Describe the role of molecular genetics in the diagnosis of neoplastic and non-neoplastic pediatric diseases
• Recognize the gross and histologic appearance of various neoplastic and non-neoplastic diseases of major organ systems including CNS, hematopoietic system, bone/soft tissue, GI tract, liver, kidney, lung, heart, mediastinum, and skin
• Discuss the appropriate use of the following ancillary techniques in the diagnosis of non-neoplastic in pediatric diseases: IHC stains, electron microscopy, and molecular tests
• Recognize non-neoplastic pediatric diseases through the study of microscopic sections.
