2018 1st Advanced Lung Disease and Lung Transplant Symposium is organized by University of Virginia and will be held on Jun 02, 2018 at Williamsburg Lodge, Autograph Collection, Williamsburg, Virginia, United States of America.

The target audience for this medical event is practicing pulmonologists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, respiratory therapists and anyone involved with pulmonary rehabilitation. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 6.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of up to 6.00 MOC points.

Conference Description :
Discussions will include an overview of lung transplantation and appropriate referral of patients, management of advanced obstructive lung disease, appropriately identifying candidates for lung volume reduction surgery, management strategies of advanced interstitial lung disease, advances in treatment for pulmonary hypertension, the misunderstood and underutilized role palliative care plays in improving a patient’s quality of life when they are in the stages of advanced lung disease, the positive impact of ex vivo lung perfusion in increasing the donor pool, and an insightful perspective of experiences from a lung transplant survivor.

Conference Objectives are :
• Describe appropriate therapeutic interventions for patients with advanced chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
• Understand how to select appropriate candidates for lung volume reduction surgery.
• Recall appropriate indications for surgical lung biopsy, antifibrotic and immunosuppressive therapy in patients with interstitial lung disease (ILD).
• Communicate novel therapies for pulmonary hypertension and appropriate treatment indications.
• Discuss the role of palliative care in the management of advanced lung disease.
• Recognize appropriate timing and indications for lung transplant referral.
• Value the personal perspective of a lung transplant patient.
• Understand the technique of ex vivo lung perfusion and its potential to increase the donor lung pool.
