12th Biennial Thyroid Update: New Concepts in the Diagnosis and Treatments of Thyroid Disease is organized by MedStar Health and will be held on Dec 07, 2018 at Kellogg Conference Hotel, Washington, Dist of Col, United States of America.

The target audience for this medical event is intended for practicing endocrinologists, surgeons, pathologists, internists, oncologists, gynecologists, obstetricians, otolaryngologists, as well as primary care and nuclear medicine physicians, radiologists, radiation oncologists, residents, fellows, nurse practitioners, physicians assistants, nurses and other members of the healthcare team interested in the diagnosis and treatment of thyroid disease. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 8.25 Interprofessional Continuing Education (IPCE) credits.

Course Description :

Thyroid conditions such as hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, thyroid nodules and thyroid cancers are among the most common diseases encountered by physicians. This program aims to clarify the important issues surrounding the diagnosis and management of these common thyroid disorders. Guidelines on hypothyroidism, thyroid nodules as well as well-differentiated and medulary thyroid cancer have been recently updated. This conference will utilize and encourage the use of a multidisciplinary approach to educate clinicians about current and controversial issues in thyroid disease and will provide an opportunity for providers to become familiar with the key elements of the updated guidelines and incorporate them into their clinical practice. 

Conference Objectives are :

• Evaluate and compare the available molecular tests for thyroid nodules to determine which patients require thyroid surgery and which patients can be monitored
• Incorporate an interdisciplinary approach to the diagnosis and management of patients with thyroid disease
• Evaluate and select newly approved targeted oral chemotherapy agents, including TKIs, for the treatment of locally advanced or metastatic thyroid cancer refractory to radioiodine therapy
• Apply new radiation therapies including proton beam therapy
• Recognize the proper application of serum thyroglobulin levels
• Utilize stratified risk assessment for thyroid cancer
• Identify proper thyroid cancer patient selection for monitoring, lobectomy or total thyroidectomy
• Implement ATA Guideline recommendations for evaluation and management of autoimmune thyroid disease including thyroid disease in pregnancy
• Implement ATA Guideline recommendations for evaluation and management of thyroid nodules and thyroid cancer
