OVERVIEW
Comprehensive Stroke Symposium Continuum of Care: Acute Management to Rehabilitation is organized by MedStar Health and would be held during May 19 - 20, 2017 at Renaissance Washington, DC Dupont Circle Hotel, Washington, Dist Of Col, United States of America.
The target audience for this medical event are neurologists, emergency physicians, primary care physicians, internists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, paramedics, physical therapists, speech therapists, occupational therapists, and other allied professionals involved in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of stroke care. This CME conference has been approved with a maximum of 12.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.
Objectives
After completing this activity, the participant will be able to;
• Identify strategies to streamline early stroke identification (pre-hospital/hospital).
• Describe the most import acute brain and vessel imaging modalities e.g. CT/CTA, MRI/MRA, and conventional angiography, along with the benefits, risks, and limitations of each
• Delineate appropriate acute stroke intervention protocols for thrombolysis and embolectomy
• Design and develop appropriate policies to rapidly and appropriately transfer patients to Comprehensive Stroke Centers for a higher level of care, acute interventions or clinical trials if available.
• Discuss the management of patients post-thrombolysis or with cerebral edema, hemorrhage, or other complications from acute interventions
• Describe best practices in transitions of care from the acute hospital to rehabilitation, home, or other appropriate levels of longer term care
• Describe the components of pre-hospital EMS screening of large vessel occlusion strokes.
• Describe the evidence based practice for acute treatment and management of patients with acute stroke
