OVERVIEW

AOTrauma Course - Advanced Principles of Fracture Management is organized by AOTrauma and would be held during Aug 23 - 25, 2017 at Santiago, Chile. The target audience for this medical event for specialists in Orthopaedic surgery, Trauma surgery.

The online self-assessment, prior to the course, prepares the participants for the course and allows the teachers to design the course according to the needs of the participants. Before attending the course, participants are expected to complete an online module on fracture reduction.

The course will be taught in modular format. Each module consists of several evidence-based conferences, which will cover the essential information required. In the practical exercises the participants will receive training in the application of several techniques. Discussion of cases in small groups will allow participants to understand decision- making and management skills.

After the course, An online self-assessment will give participants the opportunity to review important topics of the course. To support autonomous learning, a wide range of additional online resources will be offered.

Goals :

• Apply techniques of reduction in the management of fractures, taking care of the soft tissues
• Assess and treat diaphyseal (peri) joint fractures using advanced management techniques
• Demonstrate strategies for assessing and treating open fractures and soft tissue injuries
• Initiate appropriate management of patients with pelvic injuries and polytrauma
• Recognize complications and manage them according to the situation.
