AOTrauma Course - Advanced Principles of Fracture Management is organized by AOTrauma and would be held during Jul 19 - 22, 2017 at Alpin, Brasov, Romania.

Description :
Participants must have already completed the AOTrauma Course—Principles in Operative Fracture Management. They must also be actively involved in trauma management. Surgeons participating in the course will have the basic AO principles of operative fracture management reemphasized, and concentrate on their application in the management of complex fractures using advanced techniques.

Objectives :
After the course, participants should be able to :
• Apply the principles of direct and indirect reduction
• Explain the mechanical and biological principles of locked internal fixators and apply them in clinical practice
• Manage fractures with severe soft-tissue injuries applying fracture treatment principles
• Describe the role of damage control orthopaedics and early total care in polytraumatized patients
• Formulate how to treat nonunions or malunions based on underlying biological and mechanical principles
• Discuss assessment strategies of severe open injuries in the lower limb and decision making for limb salvage or early amputation

Goals : The AOTrauma Course - Advances in Operative Fracture Management teaches current concepts and AO basic principles at an advanced level incorporating the latest techniques in operative fracture management.
