AMA Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment - A Case Based Approach to Understanding and Implementing the Guides is organized by American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM) and would be held on Jul 28, 2017 at Chicago, Illinois, United States of America. This CME conference has been approved with 7.5 CME credits.
This is a single-day course that uses case presentations. Learning will be focused on the three musculoskeletal chapters of the AMA Guides (Upper Extremity, Lower Extremity and Spine) and will also include cases of neurological injury, pulmonary illness and other areas.
Learning Objectives :
Upon completion of this educational activity, learners should be able to:
Define the purpose of impairment rating evaluations.
• Apply appropriately the rules for impairment ratings as listed in the AMA Guides to the Evaluation Of Permanent Impairment, including determination of maximum medical improvement (MMI).
• Appropriately identify the history and physical examination components required to satisfy the requirements contained within the AMA Guides.
• Using case presentations and group learning approaches, apply clinical data to selected organ system chapters within the AMA Guides correctly to determine a validated and correct impairment rating numerical value.
• Identify and elaborate upon what conditions that examiners may reasonably differ regarding impairment rating determinations.
Target Audience: you should attend this course if you are :
• New to impairment rating determinations and want to make it a part of your practice
• Not new to impairment rating determinations and have taken prior introductory AMA Guides course(s) but wish to strengthen your knowledge and expertise by application of a “case based” small group learning methodology
• Unsure about whether you want to add impairment rating evaluations to your practice and want to garner more knowledge about what expertise and experience is necessary to provide them.
• Wanting a new and different approach to learning about the AMA Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment as opposed to the old, standard, didactic lecture presentations.
