Advanced Skills in Mental Healthcare for Primary Care Providers Symposium is organized by The Association of Medicine and Psychiatry (AMP) and would be held on Sep 15, 2017 at Kimpton Hotel Allegro, Chicago, Illinois, United States of America.
The target audience for this medical event forphysicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners who take care of patients in a primary care setting. This CME Conference has been approved with a maximum of 7 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.
We would like to personally invite you to attend the Association of Medicine and Psychiatry’s course in Advanced Skills in Mental Healthcare for Primary Care Providers Symposium! Scheduled for Friday, September 15th, and led by dynamic experts dually-trained in psychiatry and primary care, the symposium features topics such as Approaches to Doing a Primary Care Psychiatric Assessment and includes practical tips from knowledgeable experts (who know the pressure of seeing lots of patients in a busy primary care clinic) regarding mood disorders, anxiety disorders, substance misuse and psychotic disorders. Experts also will discuss strategies for implementing mental health screening and treatment in primary care. The symposium will include plenty of time for case examples and discussion.
Conference Objectives are :
• Primary Care Providers (PCP’s) see most patients with mental health complaints and problems. They are the frontline in mental healthcare and substance use care.
• PCP’s prescribe most antidepressant medications and are prescribing more antipsychotics, mood stabilizers, anti-anxiety and stimulant medications
• The course will review evidence based use of psychiatric medications including drug interactions and medical co-morbidities. The couse will review diagnosis and treatment of substance use disorders. Finally the course will review stratigies in integrating mental healthcare into a primary care clincal setting.
