AAOS/ASES Management of Massive Rotator Cuff Tears: Repair to Replacement is organized by American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and would be held during Sep 15 - 16, 2017 at OLC Education & Conference Center, Rosemont, Illinois, United States of America.
The target audience for this medical event are Orthopaedic surgeons who specialize in sports medicine or shoulder and elbow, as well as general orthopaedic surgeons with an in interest in shoulder arthroscopy and reconstruction. This CME conference has been approved with a maximum of 13.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.
Course Description:
This 2-day, hands-on course focuses on the latest techniques in the management of patients with massive rotator cuff tears. Learn a wide range of treatment options including arthroscopic repair, patch reconstructions, tendon transfers, and arthroplasty. You’ll spend the majority of the course in the cadaver lab practicing and refining these procedures and reviewing equipment applications as they relate to your practice.
Course highlights include:
• Concomitant arthroscopic procedures treating the biceps and suprascapular nerve
• Alternative treatments including patch reconstruction and superior capsular reconstruction
• Tendon transfers as a salvage option
• Arthroplasty in patients with non-repairable massive rotator cuff tears
• Strong concentration on the surgical techniques for conducting these procedures
Course Objectives:
At the conclusion of this course, learners should be able to:
• Describe the techniques and perform arthroscopic repair of a massive rotator cuff tear, as well as concomitant arthroscopic procedures treating the biceps and suprascapular nerve.
• Perform alternative treatments such as patch reconstruction and superior capsular reconstruction for massive rotator cuff tears.
• Review the anatomy and perform tendon transfers as a salvage option for massive rotator cuff tears.
• Recognize the indications and demonstrate the surgical techniques for arthroplasty in patients with non-repairable massive rotator cuff tears.
