Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) was first recognized as a distinct entity in the early Nineties; it is therefore still a young disease . However, as a result of intensive and collaborative research activities a number of milestone discoveries have deepened our understanding of the immune-pathogenic mechanisms leading to this chronic-inflammatory disorder.

This basic knowledge was the fundament for the development of the first therapeutic approaches . Fortunately, today several efficient medical, dietary and endoscopical therapeutic options are available and the challenge for the clinicians is to select the right treatment for the right patient at the right time .

This symposium has therefore the main purpose to present the different therapeutic modalities and to transfer these facts in the daily life of clinicians dealing with adult and pediatric EoE patients. Participants of this meeting will not only have the opportunity to attend state of the art lectures, but in addition the unique chance to discuss many practical aspects of the therapeutic management of EoE patients in small work-shops with world-renowned EoE experts . The program is designed to bridge the gap between the theoretic knowledge and its practical application in the clinical setting .
