Regional anesthesia, particularly peripheral nerve block for surgical anesthesia and postoperative analgesia, is enjoying a resurgence thanks to the growing accessibility of ultrasound equipment for image guidance. The use of ultrasound guidance offers the advantage of performing blocks with direct visualization of all involved anatomical structures. This wonderful new capability has, in turn, created the challenge of learning and perfecting these techniques.

Educational Objectives :

Understand the principles of ultrasound imaging.
Define the common steps in performing an ultrasound-guided nerve block.
Understand the basics of ultrasound- guided continuous perineural catheters, including indications and proper technique/
Integrate ultrasound-guided nerve blocks into your clinical practice.
Understand the important role of an ambulatory catheter program, including the risks and benefits, and the key steps involved in organization.
Achieve improved patient outcomes through the successful adoption of regional anesthesia practice.
