OVERVIEW
Objectives:
- Describe current recommendations regarding concussion management
- Determine and develop appropriate return to play guidelines
- Describe risk factors associated with sudden cardiac death
- Analyze ECG findings related to conditions associated with sudden cardiac death
- Discuss risks factors, signs and symptoms associated with running injuries of the lower extremity
- Develop appropriate treatments plans for these injuries
- Describe common pediatric and adolescent musculoskeletal conditions
- Develop appropriate treatments plans for these conditions
- Recognize, manage and treat common injuries encountered during sideline event coverage
- Describe the indications and contraindications to joint injections
- Recognize conditions where a joint injection is beneficial
- Determine when a joint injection would be beneficial for the patient’s condition
- Describe platelet rich plasma injections, their potential benefit and mode of action
- Discuss the potential benefits of platelet rich plasma injections in conditions such as tendinitis, DJD, muscular tears
- Educate the primary care physician on upper extremity bony anatomy, diagnosis of injuries, and treatment
- Educate the primary care physician on lower extremity bony anatomy, diagnosis of injuries, and treatment
- Help the PCP evaluate and treat over-use knee injuries
- Educate the PCP on common should dysfunction, anatomy of the shoulder, and treatment
- Help the PCP understand different shoulder instability patterns and treatment
- Educate the PCP on ankle sprains.
- Understand the anatomy of the ankle, diagnosis and treatment of sprains
- Provide the PCP increased knowledge of hip and knee replacements to better serve their patients
