OVERVIEW
Mellen Center Update in Multiple Sclerosis (MS) 2016 is organized by Cleveland Clinic Foundation Center for Continuing Medical Education and would be held on Jun 24, 2016 at InterContinental Hotel and Conference Center, Cleveland, Ohio, United States Of America.
The targeted audience for this medical event basically for Neurologists, physicians and other health care practitioners engaged in the care of patients with MS and related disorders. We will cover a broad range of topics of value to the health care professional and allow for interaction time with attendees. It will also be valuable for those involved in rehabilitation of patients with MS.
This medical conference keynote speaker is Dr. Benjamin Segal, Professor of Neurology from the University of Michigan and Director of their MS center. He will talk about the emerging issue of B cells in multiple sclerosis. They will continue the B cell theme with a lecture on new therapies which affect this target. This year we also focus on caregiving and communication.
Objectives :
At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:
- Describe the pathophysiology and the consequences of upper and lower extremity spasticity
- Analyze the new classification of MS and how this alters clinical practice approaches to categorizing patients with MS. Review the role that B cells play in MS pathogenesis.
- Discuss the use of B cell therapies in MS care, particularly when to consider these medications in clinical practice.
- Summarize the research on stem cells and other potential MS therapies and evaluate their potential clinical use.
- Effectively communicate with patients diagnosed with MS, including strategies to help them adjust to the diagnosis.
- Discuss the importance of caregiver burden in MS and methods to reduce this burden.
- Describe strategies for cognitive rehabilitation in patients with MS.
