Cardiovascular Institute (CVI) of Philadelphia 8th Annual Echocardiography Update is organized by Cardiovascular Institute of Philadelphia and would be held on Jan 10, 2016 at Loews Philadelphia Hotel - Philadelphia, PA. The target audience for this medical event basically for Cardiologists, echocardiographers, interventional cardiologists, electrophysiologists, cardiac surgeons, anesthesiologists, emergency department physicians, hospitalists, referring physicians, fellows, residents and all physicians who care for patients with cardiovascular disease; cardiac sonographers, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and nurses participating in the care of patients with cardiovascular disease.
The main focus of this Cardiovascular Institute (CVI) of Philadelphia 8th Annual Echocardiography Update 2016 is on review of echo physics, echo basics in congenital heart disease, left ventricle "reverse remodeling" after valvular and other interventions, and the role of echo in the diagnosis, peri-, intra- and post-procedural usage and management of atrial septal defects, paravalvular leaks, atrial fibrillation corrected by left atrial appendage exclusion, mitral valve disease repaired by percutaneous intervention and the failing heart assisted by mechanical support.

Conference Objectives:
• Explain the basic properties of spectral and color flow Doppler
• Apply the principles of Doppler to assessment of structural heart disease
• Describe hemodynamic parameters using Doppler techniques
• Recognize the most common congenital heart defects that survive into adulthood
• List the primary standard and "non-standard" echo views for assessment of congenital heart disease
• Review the use of 2D and Doppler echocardiography applied to specific cases of congenital heart disease in adult patients
• Incorporate congenital anatomic and echo characteristics into real-time assessment of patients with congenital heart
• Enumerate the three major categories of atrial septal defect, and identify those which are amenable to percutaneous closure
• Describe the types of information acquired from transthoracic echo and transesophageal echo that fully characterize atrial septal defect
