Target Audience: This course is designed for community-based surgeons. It will also be valuable to surgeons who are at level III, IV, or V trauma centers with familiarity of the basic techniques and principles of internal fixation. The format will consist of didactic sessions, bone model laboratory sessions, and small group discussions on various trauma cases.

Learning Objectives :

At the conclusion of this course, the participant should be able to:
• Explain recent technological advances in the treatment of difficult fractures
• Describe current techniques for improved wound and fracture healing as well as fracture reduction and fixation options
• Develop a comprehensive treatment plan for patients with commonly encountered complex fractures
• Describe current options for the treatment of complex periarticular fractures and dislocations
• Identify contemporary issues in the management of complex shoulder, elbow and wrist trauma
• Analyze complex traumatic injuries to the foot and ankle
