OVERVIEW
This unique one-day symposium offers participants an innovative continuing medical education experience designed to increase physician competence and performance in the diagnosis and management of thyroid cancer. In addition to cutting edge presentations from expert faculty and a tumor board, an afternoon hands-on ultrasound workshop with real patients will provide attendees with practical, evidence-based understanding of the evaluation, treatment, and new approaches currently available in the management of thyroid nodules and thyroid cancer. Program content will also review the latest evidence-based guidelines from the American Thyroid Association.
Learning Objectives :
• Discuss the implications of the latest American Thyroid Association guidelines for the evaluation and management of thyroid nodules and cancer
• Review the indications for thyroid ultrasound and fine needle aspiration biopsy in the treatment of thyroid nodules
• Enhance skills in performing thyroid ultrasound imaging and biopsy during a simulated workshop
• Describe current advances in the diagnosis and management of thyroid cancer and incorporate new treatment options into practice
• Discuss the role of cytology and molecular evaluation in improving the diagnosis and treatment of thyroid neoplasms
• Use AJCC or other appropriate staging in clinical practice, Including the use of appropriate prognostic indicators and evidence-based national guidelines used in treatment planning
