Advances in Epilepsy and EEG

Advances in Epilepsy and EEG is organized by Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and would be held during May 20 - 21, 2016 at Feinberg Pavilion - Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Chicago, Illinois, United States Of America. The content of the program is appropriate for healthcare providers who detect, diagnose, manage, and treat seizures and epilepsy

The purpose of this activity is to inform community neurologists and pediatric neurologists, as well as healthcare providers working in epilepsy centers across the Chicago land area, about the advancements in epilepsy diagnosis and treatment.

The CME activity focuses on five areas that have been identified through these needs assessment: new treatment options, new onset epilepsy, treatment of special populations, neonatal EEG and ambulatory EEG. This CME conference has been approved with 10.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s).

Program objectives:

After attending this educational activity, participants should be able to:

1. Identify the approach to a patient with newly diagnosed epilepsy and the new ILAE definition and guidelines.
2. Evaluate the indications and limitations of ambulatory EEG recordings.
3.Recognize the special needs and treatment options for specific populations with epilepsy. 4.Review the basic principles of neonatal EEG and learn about its utility in the Neonatal ICU setting and for prognostication.
5.Predict patients who are candidates for the most recent treatment options for intractable epilepsy.
